Jordan Romero, from Big Bear Lake, Ca who at 13, was the youngest person ever to climb the tallest mountain on every continent, challenged Big Bear Middle School students and staff to begin to live a healthier lifestyle for 30 days. The challenge: No junk food or high calorie beverages for 30 days.
Jordan’s 30-Day Challenge was kicked off on August 15th with a school-wide assembly touting the benefits of changing from diets full of junk food to a diet filled with healthier choices. Big Bear Middle School, with a population of just under 500 students and located in the San Bernardino Mountains of So. California, was where Jordan was attending school as an 8th grader when he completed his quest to climb the 7 Summits by summiting Mt. Everest at 13 years old. Jordan’s plan is to offer students healthier alternatives and the $1500 would pay for cooking demonstrations as well as an end-of-the challenge reward of a “Jordan’s Challenge” t-shirt and a party where only healthy foods are offered. Imagine a party full of kids with NO JUNK FOOD!
